California Bank Levies
Imposing a bank levy can be an effective way to obtain money for a debt that is owed to you. The State of California allows creditors to levy a debtor's bank account to satisfy a judgment. In most instances, you don't even need the debtor's bank account number.
You will however need to know what bank or credit union branch they keep their money in. Then you will have to fill out several legal documents, file the forms with the court and submit them to your local sheriff's office. Finally you'll need someone to serve or deliver the Notice of Levy (Enforcement of Judgment) to the bank.
If that sounds like too much to do, then let us do it for you. We are The Legal Process and we have an entire staff dedicated to the debt collection process. Our workforce also consists of a staff that is the best in the industry and who knows how to prepare and file the legal documents as well as serving process.
The personnel at The Legal Process will gladly inspect all the necessary paperwork. We'll then file it with the courts, open the sheriff's file at their office, serve the bank or credit union with the Notice of Levy then within 5 days we must close the sheriff's file after we have served the levy. We'll even help you locate the bank information, if you don't have it.
Exercising your right to levy a debtor's bank account is a tricky process. However, there's no need for you to try to navigate through the process alone. If you're really interested in levying the bank account of a debtor, give us a call.
